Comments Closed and Other Notes
A programming note I meant to make more explicit: I am out of the country on vacation for Sally’s birthday. I may or may not be posting in the next week as a consequence. (It’s going to be a proper vacation where I struggle mightily against the urge to work.) This morning local time, I woke up and realized the comments have been infested with a racist troll who doxxed me. It’s not a huge deal, inasmuch as I am a semi-public person whose identity is well-known, but I’ll be damned if I let people ruin this site with hate. So all the comments have been turned off. I’m so sorry to do this. In the 20 years I’ve maintained this blog, and 24 I’ve been blogging, I’ve always wanted to keep the lines of communication open. For the next few months or years, that may not be possible. It’s a sad fact, but in this timeline we are not allowed to have nice things.
