Support This Site

Each January, I start the year not entirely sure how I’ll earn a living. Over the course of the following months, I scramble to get work, and I’m usually able to pay the bills. Thanks to sponsors and readers, this website generates enough revenue that I don’t enter a new year in a blind panic. Each year, scores of readers chip in one-time donations or, even more amazingly, set up monthly donations. Each time I a reader makes a donation, I receive a notification, and I am flooded with a sense of gratitude and amazement. It truly means the world to me to have folks support the work I do.

In the 17 years I’ve been maintaining this site, I’ve never wanted to gunk it up with pop-up ads or unwanted come-ons. I don’t track anyone who visits the site, even if they sign up for the weekly newsletter—and indeed, I wouldn’t even know how. In a world of constant tech “enshittification,” I promise to always leave the site open and uncluttered (except for the occasional run-on sentence). That’s true whether you wish to donate or not. It’s how I want the internet to work.

However, if you do feel inspired to support this site, you can make a donation at the link below. There’s almost no minimum, and the service I use, Ko-fi, has reasonable charges so most of whatever you donate does make it to me.

Thanks!
