This has been a very weird week in the Pacific Northwest. An ice storm blew in last Friday, paralyzing the city and knocking out a lot of power. (Weak branches, coated with heavy ice, fall on power cables in ice storms; trees get blown over in 50 mph gusts.) It was supposed to all clear up on Wednesday, day two of CiderCon, the annual event for some reason held each January. That didn’t happen, which no doubt was very bad for the convention; instead, we got another bout of ice. On behalf of a beleaguered city, so sorry, ciderfolk.

In 36 hours, I may be touching down in Prague—if I can get to the airport tomorrow by 11am. I will do my best to update you with interesting sights and descriptions of my travel while I’m gone. I’ll be in Prague from Saturday late afternoon local time through Weds morning (1/24), arriving in Budapest later that day and staying through to the morning of the 30th. The weather actually looks better in those cities than it does here.

I am always open to suggestions for either location (email, comment, DM, semaphor as you prefer). I’ve already got too many places to see in Prague, but that doesn’t mean I can’t consider new options! For those of you trying to get in touch with me, I’ll be available through all the usual internet channels.

Na Zdraví!
